Snow Ice Cream is one of them.
Here is a YUMMY, simple recipe with just 5 ingredients: snow, sweetened condensed milk, vanilla, milk & sugar.
THIS is thanks to my father-in-love, who while visiting from Arkansas, made it for us EVERY DAY!
Ya'll know them southern folk don't get snow everyday... so they make the most of it. And we'uns benefit.
Hubby made it yesterday for the office staff... after a freshly fallen snow. They couldn't get enough! They are making it again today for a Children's Ministries Meeting.
SO in honor of my Father-in-Love's Birthday TODAY... (Happy Birthday, Dad...) ...
Make some SNOW ICE CREAM and enjoy this smooth, creamy taste you will crave all winter.
NOW... this takes some trial and error... depending on your tastebuds.
FIRST you get one Southern Father-in-Love
SECOND - he mixes:
- 1 Can of Sweetened Condensed Milk
(the light tastes yummy too... minus a few calories.)
then add:
- Vanilla to taste... (start with a teaspoon)
- Milk to thin it... (start with 1/4 cup)
- Sugar... (start with 1/4 cup or less)
THIRD
FOURTH
Put snow in a bowl ...
...and add some mixture.
Stir around till you like the consistency.
If the mix needs more of this or that... just add it.
If I, the culinary challenged can do this without 'set in snow' measurements, YOU CAN TOO!
Try it.
Let me know how you like it. We haven't made it for anyone who didn't LOVE LOVE LOVE it.
Then I will tell my Father-in-Love he is famous!
ENJOY!

Sounds delicious...we should have made a trip to Detroit that week.
Your grandma MO used to make it when I was a kid. I guess it skipped a generations because I never have made it. Remember how it is done for the next time you are in Adrian and we have some clean snow....Mom
Hey, that sounds great but our snow gets yellow real quick around here!
Hey, I wanted to tell you that taking my tree down this year was much easier since I did the lights from Steve’s suggestion. Thanks so much!!!!!

Yum! My mom used to make this when we were kids. I had forgotten how great we thought she was to turn snow into ice cream.

Sounds really good - will have to try it cause we have plenty of snow around here!!! Thanks for sharing - I'm still enjoying using the vegie slicer/dicer you recommended too!!
Hugs from Hudson
I can't believe that someone from ARKANSAS would know how to make that!!! I am a northerner transplanted in the south (of all places...Arkansas!) and I have never seen enough snow here that would even be edible! I am so impressed with a fellow Arkansan to be able to make such a treat as snow ice cream.
Happy Birthday to the "snow king".
blessings, Laurie
We enjoyed it yesterday -- thanks Steve for making it for us. It was yummy. Marilynn
Looks yummy! Wish I had some! Yes, I live in Texas. We had sleet Tuesday night but no snow. My grandma used to make it by scraping "snow" off the inside of her freezer. Yes, pretty gross I know but I was a kid and didn't think anything of it. It just tasted good. She called it snow cream.
The above comment is from Reginna Osborn. I still don't seem to have the hang of this.
Anyway, wish Harold a Happy Birthday from me and Tim.
This is cool.
We used to attempt snow ice cream when I was growing up... it never really turned into anything worthy of the word "treat" or even close!
But...this sounds great!
I love snow ice cream. My mom used to make it too, but without the extra milk. She just added more and more snow until the consistency and taste was right.

Ah! I am going to have the kids make this at the Schools Out Camp in February. Great idea!
I will be trying this later this week! We keep getting dumped on this side of the state as well!! Thanks!

Another interesting thing...John and I were talking about snow icecream last month! It must be an Arkansas thing!
